More Coming as Our Community Grows!

JOin a historic, art + Design Retail anchor

FLAX art & design, the venerable art supply retailer at the center of the Bay Area creative community for over 80 years, has an evolutionary idea. In our Oakland location we have a luxurious amount of space. We are putting it toward a better use by housing multiple creative entities under one roof, in the Flax Building!

We are inviting other businesses, creatives and retailers to share our space with us.

It is an exciting concept that is well underway.  Within our 14,000 sq ft building, FLAX is retaining about 7,000 sq ft.  We have available 3,000 sq ft of open space (partially leased) on the retail floor for sales activities and other forms of public interaction, as well as for a coffee shop. And we have 3,000 of office/flex space, which has been leased out to two theater groups. The remainder is shared use for general access and the public restrooms. We are maintaining the existing layout to foster a collaborative environment for the co-tenants, and preserve the open feel and sight lines that visitors find so appealing.
